The family of entertainers, from a vaguely Slavic descent, was HUGE! I had lots of characters for it. This was a single mother who had married into the family, and then her husband died. But she stayed with the family for support in raising three active children. Her roles in the group varied, and she could act, pain/build props and sets, sew costumes, and generally did whatever she had time to do.
