XELLOS
Slayers
"Sore wa himitsu desu!" (ie, "That is a secret!") This always cheerful, always close-eyed priest is actually a very powerful member of the mazoku race, and far from trustworthy. One never knows quite what it going through his head... If you ever see his eyes open, run.
I resisted liking Xellos for a long time, because I'd already "chosen" Zelgadis. But Xellos eventually got ahead of him. I love how easily one can twist his personality into just about anything - and still make it seem in-character.

ZELGADIS
Slayers
Zelgadis is part chimera, part demon, and part human, due to what his grandfather (or great-grandfather) Rezo did to him. Now he searches the world for a cure. He's good with a sword, good with magic, and is able to chuck his scruples right out the window for the possibility of a cure. ^^;
When Zelgadis first appeared in Slayers (first season), my immediate reaction was "COOL!" ^_^ He was reasonably intelligent, he had a tendency to make neato entrances, and his appearance was very interesting. I glomped on and never let go. |

GAARA
Naruto
Gaara has an absolute power over sand, which protects him whether he wants it to or not. He only displays two emotions - excitement and blood-lust. He never sleeps, and is nearly invincible. He's completely insane. ...and he was cutest, most huggable little boy I ever saw. *sigh*
Okay, Gaara was one of those characters who just kinda snuck onto this list... He grabbed my attention with two things right off the bat: (1) he has the voice actor Ishida Akira, the Japanese voice of Xellos from Slayers, and (2) he had a really neat appearance. (What were you expecting? I'm shallow!) From this, I started watching him. And finally I read his past in the manga, and later watched it in the anime, and I was hooked. |

ZELOS
Tales of Symphonia
Zelos, Chosen of Tethe'alla, knows he's hot and will use his charms on every female he meets. This is not exclusive to young, attractive women - all females are "hunnies." ...But is this all there is to him?
I chose him before the game had even begun, when looking at two important factors. (1) He has long, red hair, which I absolutely adore if I can get it. (2) His name is Zelos... pronounced the same as my absolute fave, Xellos of Slayers. ^____^
At first, I was disappointed in him - he was a playboy, he called women his "hunnies," and he was mean to another character I liked (Genis). But his abilities in battle, and the fact that he could get stuff from any woman on either planet, repeatedly, quickly endeared him to him. That, and he DOES have more in that head than just "hunnies, hunnies, hunnies!" Thankfully... -_-;;

SHU
Suikoden II
Shu is the resident strategist of the castle. He trained under the previous strategist of Suikoden I, but was kicked out of the school because he used his knowledge for personal gain. Now he is called upon to use his skills for the greater good. Of course, convincing him of that is another matter entirely...
Shu is incredibly intelligent. To paraphrase what he once said, he's "worth 10,000 men." And considering his ability to plan, he probably is... He has no fighting skills, as far as I know, but his knack for pulling one's arse out of the fire at just the right moment more than makes up for it. After all, why should he fight...when he can get others to do it for him? ^^;
