By Patricia C. Wrede
Kim is a young thief hired to break into a magician's wagon and look for something... but what happens when she finds the peddler of tricks can use real magic? Why, he makes her his apprentice! And so begins their history together...
Kim is sensible, straightforward, and always plans ahead. In contrast, Mairelon is... exasperating. ^^ I was cheering for them from moment one. |

FIRE'S STONE
By Tanya Huff
Aaron is the best thief in the city. Darvish is a drunkard, a lover, and a wastrel... and also just happens to be a prince. Chandra is a princess with amazing magical powers and the will to use them to their fullest extent. These three unlikely people are sent to save the city when the stone that holds back the volcano from decimating the kingdom is stolen...
You'd be surprised who ends up with who in this story. I didn't either really like or dislike the story when I first read it. But years later, when I read it again, I absolutely adored it. It's a fun adventure with neat characters. Although it does touch on some of my dislikes, it doesn't touch on the worst of them. |

FAIRY TALES
By Grimm, Anderson, etc.
Fairy tales have been an interest of mine since childhood, of course, but it's lasted to the present.
They're fun to read right before bed, pulling one into a world where true love triumphs (most of the time), bad guys are punished (most of the time), and tricksters can do anything they set their mind to.
But they also have a dark side which intrigues me. As such, they've held my interest, and I continue to read and enjoy them even now.
