Minoru is one of the cu~~~~~utest toddlers you will ever see within the scope of anime and manga. With wide eyes, a bright smile, and a cheerful personality, he steals the spotlight of whatever scene he's in. Because he's just a toddler, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and is incapable of hiding his emotions.
He has a huge brother's complex, and doesn't like anyone getting close to Takuya. If asked who his favorite person in the world is, he'd say, "Nii-chan!" ("Brother!") Half the fun of the series is Minoru's obvious adoration of his older brother.

Kira is a street-wise teenager who gets into fights and trouble with his best friend Setsuna, rebels against his father, and otherwise does stuff he shouldn't. But he's hiding a secret... okay, several secrets... okay, more than several secrets. Then, after a certain event, his biggest secret comes out: he is Lucifer, leader of Hell. His personality is completely different... or is it?
In many ways a background figure for a good portion of the story, he suddenly becomes a central focus near the end. I loved him as Kira - a sweetie who was utterly devoted to Setsuna and willing to kill anyone who harmed him. And I loved him as Lucifer, the king of badass, who was willing to sacrifice anyone that got in the way of his goal.

ZAPHIKIEL

Zaphikiel is one of those mysterious characters I adore. Seemingly ever cheerful despite his blindness, behind this mask lies a powerful man willing to do anything to further his goals. He's a master at manipulating people and events to his whims. I adored trying to guess what his goals and his motivations were.
Zaphikiel sort of sneaks into the story, and slowly becomes more and more important, until finally he plays a key role in changing Setsuna's goal from "save Sara and screw everyone else " to "save Sara, but first save Heaven." (Impressive indeed!) |

URIEL

Focus Level: 2
Uriel plays a rather important role as both enemy and helper, but then fades out for a good portion of the story... until near the end, when he makes a sudden and dramatic reappearance. (Go, Uriel!)
I'm not quite sure why I like Uriel so much. Perhaps I identify with his need to hide from the world. But whatever the reason, I was always very happy to see him in the story. ^^ (His dark good looks had nothing to do with it... really... ^^;; ) |

MAD HATTER

Focus Level: 3
Mad Hatter can be called neither an evil nor good character. "Her" motives are single-minded, and she will do anything to further them. She's in love with Lucifer, and more than anything wants that love returned, but at the same time, she only loves him because he despites her. The minute he returns her love, her love will turn to hate. Such is the contradiction she is.
Mad Hatter was fascinating, a truly ambiguous character who, even after having her past explained, remained very mysterious. |

ROZIEL

I despise Roziel. He's on the honorable mentions because I loved to hate him, because I loved booing and hissing at him, and wondering what manipulative, evil, and utterly insane thing he would do next. I loved him for how he drove the plot.
...And despite it all, at the end, I was actually able to forgive him a lot. He was a pawn, manipulated since before birth (like most everyone in the story). In many ways, it was Alexiel's weakness that allowed him to turn into the bad guy he is in the story. So, I can say he was a fascinating character, who left me rather mixed up at the end. I hated him, but yet I loved him for it... He might eventually be moved to the favorite antagonist's list. -_-;; |

Long, long ago, Lucifer met Alexiel and they fell in love on first sword swing. Or something. He claims her as his, and even after being turned into a sword, follows her through the ages. In the present, however, Kira (Lucifer) is Setsuna's (Alexiel's) best friend.
I would love to see these two end up together somehow, be it through reincarnation (again) or an alternate universe. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to break Setsuna up with his sister, because they go through all the forces of Heaven and Hell to be together, so Lucifer and Alexiel will just have to wait a generation. ^^;

ARC THE LAD: TWILIGHT OF SPIRITS

Born half-human and half-deimos, Darc lives his early years as a fugitive with his deimos father, always on the run. While still a child, his father dies, leaving him all alone in the deimos world. He's saved by Geedo, a fat old toad (no, literally) who turns him into a slave, abusing and torturing him.
Darc grows up surprisingly kind, despite his life. This kindness is forcibly ripped from him in a series of tragic events, which pound into him the ultimate truth of the deimos world: power is everything. Broken, he makes a vow to save his people by becoming the most powerful deimos alive and uniting them as the deimos king.
I absolutely adore Darc. While ultimately sweet natured, he lives in a world which uses and kills kindness. And... damn it, they ripped off his wings! I can't believe they did that!! The poor boy just needs some tender loving care.

The boy prince who would be king... but first he has to take the kingdom back! Arslan was soft, gentle, pretty in a girlish way despite being a boy, and very determined. He inspires absolute loyalty in his followers, and returns that loyalty 100%.
...And considering he has lots of hot guys following him, one has to wonder about his preferences in, er... companions. ~.O

The dark, handsome protector who's good with a sword. He's fiercely loyal to and over-protective of his charge, and much too serious for his own good. I glomped onto him automatically. Daryoon is the type whom I go for on instinct. ^_^ |

He has long, red hair, is suave, handsome, charming, and a bit of a playboy... and he's definitely straight. But he has skills (both with a bow and in bed) to back up his talk. As a minstrel, he goes where the wind takes him, and calls no one his master. Well... unless he finds a cool woman to devote his energies on. He's kept from being a long-term focus simply for lack of material. |

Narsus is a man who wants to devote the rest of his life to painting and the good life, away from politics and war. Unfortunately, he's also a master strategist, so whether he likes it or not, he's dragged into the war surrounding Arslan. Charming, laid-back, and with a quick tongue, he is nonetheless fiercely loyal. I like seeing him outwit (and occasionally beat up) his opponents. |

Pretty much any combination of this pairing interests me - Daryoon x Narusus, Daryoon x Arlsan, Narsus x Arslan, Daryoon x Narsus x Arslan - all are fine n' dandy. They each work well together, and have possible reasons for a relationship.

Technically, Sakon & Ukon are one person. Sakon is the human who controls the puppet, Ukon. But you have to wonder sometimes, between the two. Sakon is very pretty, with polite manners, and is incredibly intelligent. Ukon is... rough, rude, and not-so-polite. Where does Sakon get Ukon's personality, hm?

Hazumi is tough and protective of her younger adopted brother, Takumi. Takumi, in turn, is willing to do anything to keep his adopted sister safe. And just perhaps, they don't really see each other as the siblings they try to pretend they are... I want to snuggle with Takumi (as do most other females in the show), and get some lessons in fighting from Hazumi.

When I first saw the anime of Basara, being of an impressionable young age, I immediately fell in love with the pairing of the Red King and Sarasa. It seemed extremely romantic - arch enemies meeting and falling in love, unknowing who the other one was.
As I got older, though, their situation appealed to me less, as did both Sarasa and the Red King. The Red King was romantic to Sarasa, but was otherwise a horrible leader who deserved to be kicked off his throne, and Sarasa seemed to be winning the day more through luck and her ability to influence the Red King than through her ability to lead.
If I watched them now, I'm not sure what I would think... however, they make it onto this list because I did like them a lot at one time.

Not your typical hero, he tried to take over the world... and nearly succeeded! Now he's the only one to stand in the way between his own army and generals. He doesn't do anything without a price, he's rude, arrogant, self-absorbed, and has a really strong libido. The model of an anti-hero, he's great fun to watch run amok! ^_^

GRIFFITH

Griffith is by far the most beautiful man in all of Berserk, and even claims a nudity scene in one part with Gatsu (oh my!). His personality's as cold as his looks. Inspiring absolute loyalty in his followers, his ambitions are through the roof - a fact I admire, actually.
If Berserk weren't so depressing and bloody, if everything didn't go wrong, and if a woman didn't get brutally raped in it (by Griffith-turned-evil, no less), I might have liked the series - and the character - a lot more. As it is, he's still pretty to look at.

He's overconfident, brash, and has a tendency to either seriously underestimate his opponents, or take on people who are ten times better than him (causing him to spurt buckets of blood). But he's kind, loyal, protective, and always strives to do the right thing. Oh, and he's hot when his hair is down. XD

He hides everything he thinks behind a perfect, icy mask, and has the badass skills to back it up. He willingly sends Rukia to be executed, and in general acts like a complete jerk. But he does have his reasons, and there is more going on under the surface than it seems. He just needs a good kick in the butt to wake him up!
I began liking Byakuya primarily because everyone I talked to about him HATED him, and I felt sorry for the poor boy. Well, and he's undeniably handsome. That helped a lot. |

He had Sasuke's voice actor and Sasuke's general attitude and Sasuke's bangs, and... and he really should have been more of a focus. But he never does anything! Arrrgh! I'm waiting for when he reveals his awesomeness, darn it! So far, though, he hasn't impressed me very much. |

He laughs, cries, hurts, angsts, smiles, sneers, frowns, and does every other human emotion. Meaning, he has a complicated, human personality - a nice change from some of the typical main characters. He isn't afraid to take on life-threatening challenges, and has more-than-human abilities, which manifest themselves in the coolest forms possible. Overall, a main character to be admired! |

I wanna know what goes on in this guy's head!! He has a secret agenda that he ain't tellin'. He's secretive, always smiling, and his eyes are always closed. And he has light purplish hair. ...Considering how much I love a similar character (Xellos from Slayers), is it any wonder I like this guy, too? |

They're extremely similar in terms of personality. Both are willing to kill themselves to keep Rukia safe, both are stubborn idiots, and both have a tendency to lose blood by the bucketfuls when fighting people. I like their interaction onscreen and would be amused to see how this pairing could work in a fanfic. |
BLUE SEED

A classic set-up. Kusanagi is the reluctant, brash protector who slowly falls for his charge. Momiji is a typical high school girl who learns she's more than typical. It's hard for me not to like it, although Momiji would probably annoy me if I watched Blue Seed at this time.

What I first noticed about Kou is, in the original Japanese version, Kou has Orochimaru's (from Naruto) voice actor. After I got over this, I liked his smirky attitude, his kick-butt moves, and his tattoos. It's hard not to like a guy who's down to earth enough to know assaulting a corporate building is insane, and will tell you so... but does it anyway. =3
