5 FAVORITE VIDEO/COMPUTER GAMES
CRITERIA FOR PICKING A GAME: Did I finish the game, or could I conceviably finish it? Were the characters memorable? Did the plot suck me in and never let go? Was it fun and entertaining? With this in mind, I picked the following...

TALES OF SYMPHONIA
TALES OF THE ABYSS
I'm probably cheating for putting both of these games as my top 1, but oh well. ^^;; For both Symphonia and Abyss, combine funny, endearing characters with an excellent battle system, add in tons of plot twists, and mix with a plan to alternately destroy and save the world... and you have these games.
Symphonia has the honor of being the only 40+ hour game that I have ever finished THREE TIMES. Yes, THREE. This is amazing for someone like me, who has a tendency to flit. Abyss I have finished once, and have high hopes of finishing it at least one more time.
The characters suck me in, and the battle system keeps me interested. The games are wonderful because both new and old gamers can find something to interest them. While the battle system is complicated, most elements can be ignored by new gamers.
In Symphonia, the icing on the cake was the ability for the main character to "end up" with any of his other party members, and then get different scenes depending on who that person is during the game.
In Abyss, the ability to choose whom you ended up with was taken away, but the game ends wonderfully open-ended, and the ending itself was fantastic and well worth the time and effort to get to it. |

KINGDOM HEARTS SERIES
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts 2
Somehow, the Kingdom Hearts series managed the impossible. They took famous Square characters from the Final Fantasy series, and put them in Disney worlds... and made the game work around this unbelievable concept.
I fell in love with Riku and Sora at first sight. The fact that they took some of my favorite Square characters - Cloud and Sephiroth most notibly - and put them in the game was a big plus. I adored the Disney worlds they decided to put in the game, especially Halloween Town (as I was a huge fan of the movie it came from). Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 are some of the rare games I've finished. |

SUIKODEN SERIES
Suikoden I
Suikoden II
Suikoden III
Suikoden IV
Suikoden V
Suikogaiden I
Suikogaiden II
Suikogaiden III
Suikoden II cemented this series as my favorite. The series has the distinction of being one of the handful of games I've played to the very end. Considering my attention span, that's rare. For every game I finish, there are ten more I never do.
I love the intricate plot and the connections between each of the games. Every time I revisit the Suikoden world, I find ten things that I never noticed before, no matter how many times I may replay the game.

FINAL FANTASY 7
Cloud, Vincent, and Sephiroth captured my imagination. Each time I played, my take on these characters changed a little. Sephiroth was always mysterious, as I could never fully understand his motives. Cloud was also mysterious, because he'd gone through so much and his head had been screwed with so many times, one could never be certain that everything from his past had been revealed.
Because the game never revealed everything, it left room open for fans to interpret things how they willed it. I loved this flexibility, and the way that fans ran with it. The fan side of this game still thrives, despite how old the game is now. |

LEGEND OF KYRANDIA SERIES
Legend of Kyrandia
Legend of Kyrandia, Book 2: The Hand of Fate
Legend of Kyrandia, Book 3: Malcolm's Revenge
Funny, sarcastic, and self-mocking, with the classic adventure format typical of the Kings Quest series - how could I not adore it?
The series was the type I liked to play over and over. It was fun, relatively easy if you knew what to do, required some thinking the first time around and almost none the second time, and could be enjoyed for the comedy and plot.
