My favorite yaoi couples in anime, manga, and video games. #1 is, of course, my absolute favorite, going down from there.

JOWY / SHUJINKOU
Suikoden II
For the record, "Shujinkou" is the main character, the hero of Suikoden II. In Japanese, "Shujinkou" simply means "protagonist, main character, or hero (of the story)." This is not his official name, as he doesn't really have one...
These two characters are incomplete without each other, and need each other to function well. Shujinkou is far too trusting. He’s not overly intellectual, but very friendly and sweet. People could take advantage of him easily. In fact, he’d almost ask someone to please take advantage of him! Jowy on the other hand, is strong, doubting, intelligent, and wounded from his history. Shujinkou lightens up his mood, and gives him something to believe and trust in. Jowy needs that. Jowy gives Shujinkou protection, guidance, and an extra head. They really need each other.

LUC / SASARAI
Suikoden II & III
Okay, Suikoden 3 almost destroyed these two… So, ignoring that, we had two characters from one place. Both appearing the same age, though one was quite possibly far older. Luc remembered Sasarai in such a way as to hold some grudge or distrust, or something against him. Sasarai recognized Luc’s presence, but didn’t know where from. This was the most intriguingly un-elaborated relationship! The two of them are powerful, adorable, interesting, smart, and elitist in some way. Their interaction would always be something unique and fun to imagine. I still love the coupling best when ignoring Suikoden 3, but it’s still an interesting relationship after the third game too. (twincest. Oi. At least they’re both boys and wouldn’t have any real problem.) |

KILLUA / GON
Hunter x Hunter
Like Jowy and Shujinkou, these two are the over-trusting, not-trusting pair. But they’re total kids! They play with one another. They fight, they tumble, they laugh all the time. But Killua would give anything for Gon. He’s got so little in his life aside of Gon, that once he was accepted, he latched on to Gon with everything he had. Gon is so friendly and wonderful, that everyone would want to be with him. But again, he’s too trusting and needs someone to protect him. Gon could easily get hurt. The two are so cute together that I love every minute they spend in each other’s company!

NEJI / ROCK LEE
Naruto
RIVALS! Only better than normal rivals, they’re rivals who went from simple rivalry, to rivalry with OPEN respect. Both are great characters, and what’s more, they’ve both grown. No boring un-changing relationship here. These two would have a constantly growing romance. Plus, they have a lot to teach each other. They both are okay on their own, independent and strong, but together they have something better. |

Death Note
Here’s a different one. They’re the only two that can offer intellectual stimulation to one another. Two super-geniuses with similar yet very different moral patterns. The story behind them shifts quickly and unexpectedly, but the two boys are inseparable, even if it weren’t for that chain. *laugh* I honestly can’t see them with anyone but each other.
