What if Harry had different relatives, other than the Dursleys? Why didn't Dumbledore know of them? Or if he did know, why were the Dursleys preferred? Where have they been all this time? Why didn't they ever claim Harry as their own?
When Voldemort killed Harry’s parents, Hagrid arrived moments later and picked up Harry, so he could take him to the Dursleys. What if Sirius arrived first? What if he managed to take Harry before Hagrid, or convinced Hagrid to let Sirius take him? How would this change events?
In Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets, book 2, when Harry ends up in Knockturn Alley, he sees Draco & Lucius selling some stuff to a shopkeeper, due to the raids recently searching for dark arts stuff. Draco nearly discovers Harry in the shop, but doesn’t quite. ...What if Draco had discovered Harry? How would he have reacted, and what would he have done? What would Harry have done?
In Harry’s first year, the Sorting Hat nearly put him in Slytherin, but due to Harry’s request, was instead put in Gryffindor. What would have happened if the Sorting Hat /had/ put him in Slytherin? Would he have managed to stay friends with Ron, despite Ron’s distaste for Slytherins? Would he have gotten to know Hermione? Would any of the teachers view him differently? Especially, how would Snape have reacted to having his old enemy’s friend under his care?
Harry refused Draco’s friendship in year 1. What if Harry had accepted it instead? Would he have continued to be Ron’s friend? Would he have ever gotten to know Hermione? Would any of the teachers view him differently?
What would happen if a character of the Harry Potter world was thrown into an alternate version of the accepted world, where something significant is missing or changed? What is different, and what is the same? How did it happen? How were they transported there?
What if someone of the Harry Potter world who is currently alive had died earlier, or was never born?
- If Harry himself was never born, or died before Voldemort could confront him, would anyone have been able to stop Voldemort? Lacking Harry to try and kill, would Voldemort have attacked Neville instead, thus making Neville the “child of prophesy,” so to speak?
- What if Tom Riddle was never born? All the horrors due to him later on wouldn’t have happened. Would there have been another Dark Lord? Or would everyone have lived in relative peace?
- What if Dumbledore had never existed? Who would the current Headmaster at Hogwarts be? Would anyone have been able to stand up to Voldemort and keep him at bay, or would he have run amok?
- What if both Harry Potter & Tom Riddle hadn’t existed, or died right after birth? Taking out two principal characters of the Harry Potter world, what would the current world be like without them?
What if someone of the Harry Potter world who is (as of the end of book 5) dead, didn’t die? How did they avoid death? What happened to prevent it? And how does this effect the Harry Potter world afterwards? Does having them around make a difference? Is it good or bad? |
What if Tom Riddle had gotten the family support he craved so badly early on in his life? Would he have still ended up as Lord Voldemort?
At the end of book 5, Lucius is put into Azkaban. How would Draco’s life have been if Lucius was caught and put into Azkaban the first time that Voldemort was defeated? Would Draco have any real memory of his father? Without his father’s influence, would his personality be different? How would he react if his father escaped (along with all the other prisoners) in book 5, when Voldemort releases his old Deatheaters?
Tri-Wizard Tournament, 1 century ago, was held every five years. Is there a possibility that Dumbledore participated back then? There’s an age restriction in the present, but it’s been said that there wasn’t one in the past.
Voldemort decides that the best way to defeat Harry Potter is to remove all his supports. Not by killing them, but by making them turn against him. If Harry is left alone and friendless, his will to fight will disappear – or at least leave him a lot more vulnerable and open to attack. How does he do this? Does it work, or does it fail miserably? If it works, does anyone unexpected step in to fill their places? If it fails, where does the plan go wrong? |
